Terms of Service

Last updated 2026-09-29

These terms describe how E4 Chess Trainer works and what we ask of you in return, in plain language.

The service

E4 Chess Trainer is a personal chess-coaching product: lesson plans, homework, progress tracking, and an AI coach that explains ideas in plain language — never engine evaluations, never shaming.

The AI coach is a teaching aid alongside a human coach's methodology, not a replacement for the coach–student relationship, and not a chess engine giving you the "best move."

Accounts and eligibility

A student account for anyone under 18 must be created and managed by a parent or guardian. AI-coaching features stay off for a minor's account until a guardian approves them by email, as described in our Privacy Policy.

You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure and for the activity that happens under your account.

Acceptable use

Use the service for its purpose: learning and coaching chess. Do not attempt to bypass consent controls, extract other users' data, or use the AI coach to generate content unrelated to chess coaching.

Plans and pricing

E4 Chess Trainer is offered on three plans. Free costs nothing and stays free. Advanced is €9 per month. Pro is €19 per month. Annual billing may be offered in the future; if it is, the price will be stated here before it applies to anyone. What each plan includes — 5, 150 and 600 AI-coach messages per month respectively, and 8 deep game reviews per month on Pro — is listed on the pricing section of our home page, and those are the figures the product actually applies.

Free-plan allowances become enforced limits from the date stated in the notice we send to every existing account at least 14 days beforehand. Reaching an allowance never deletes anything you have saved, and never interrupts a coach reply already in progress — only the next message is affected. Guardian consent, parental visibility, quiet hours and your rights to access, export or delete your data are legal entitlements, never plan features: no plan, paid or free, can withhold them.

Paid plans cannot be purchased yet. When purchasing opens it will run through Apple's or Google's in-app purchase on mobile and through our web payment provider on the web. Prices, the billing period and how to cancel will be shown to you before you confirm, and where the account belongs to someone under 18 a parent or guardian must approve the purchase. Nothing is charged to anyone before that flow exists in the product and you have used it.

Right of withdrawal

This section applies to a paid plan bought on our website, once purchasing there has opened (see Plans and pricing above). A plan bought through Apple's or Google's in-app purchase is covered by their terms and their cancellation and refund process instead.

If you buy as a consumer, you have a legal right to withdraw from the contract. To withdraw, send us a clear statement that you are withdrawing, by email to support@e4chess.training from the address on the account. You may use the model withdrawal form below, but you do not have to.

Before payment you are asked to request that the service start straight away. If you withdraw after it has started, you may be asked to pay for the part of the service already provided, in proportion to the time it was available. Withdrawing does not delete anything saved on the account.

Model withdrawal form (complete and return this form only if you wish to withdraw from the contract):

Availability and changes

We may update features, this page, or the Privacy Policy as the product develops. Material changes affecting how your data is used will be reflected here with an updated date at the top of the page.

Liability

The service is provided as-is, without guaranteeing it will be uninterrupted or error-free. The AI coach is a teaching tool: its explanations should be read alongside, not instead of, your human coach's guidance.
